Double Denim? The Denim Jacket?
You may be thinking, really Nic? a denim jacket is a classic piece of clothing which never really goes out of fashion. TRUE, however, I slightly beg to differ, as simple as it may sound, a big trend will be detail. Oversized, Over detailed and Overly Deconstructed denim jackets are in my opinion going to be a huge trend for SS18.
With celebs like Kendall Jenner and Kim K sporting the item of clothing, and with many retailers jumping on the band wagon, I believe the denim jacket will be a big hit this season & you heard it here first... (probably not but lets pretend you did for my sake).
Last Summer I searched high and low for a light blue wash denim jacket, looking for an oversized in a boxy fit way, and stiff enough that it would not sag (oh I hate a sag). After having no luck, it seems like this year they are everywhere, you literally can't miss them.
Celeb & Blogger Inspiration
My main style inspiration for this post and outfit is Kendall Jenner (once again) street style look. She's wearing a Balenciaga denim jacket, I fell in love with the way its done up and of course styled with even more denim. My other sources of inspiration is from Instagram bloggers likes @NaomiGenes who also sport the oversized denim trend.
How I Styled IT
I bought my denim jacket from Topshop, in a size 8 as in my store they didn't have any smaller sizes, but the 8 is a perfect fit, and gives the oversized feel it is meant to have. As you'll see in the pictures, it is a perfect light wash blue, and it matches atleast 3 pairs of my jeans already, which is an added bonus. It has huge front pockets, and the buttons do up all the way to the top. In a way, it kinda reminds me of a gardeners jacket, but I love this as it gives an unusual, not-like-everyone-else, kinda vibe.
